Vita Yachts

Hooper Quinn provided engineering design leadership on the plug-in electric projects with Vita-Yachts. The electric powertrain installation of their latest 10-meter, all carbon-fibre luxury yacht featured a twin-motor with industry-leading performance levels and safety systems.

The stunning new product was designed in Scotland, built in France, tested in Italy, and launched in the south of England. It was an ambitious project during the most disruptive phase of the Covid pandemic, and yet the progress from their existing prototypes was notable and provided valuable demonstrations of what the company is capable of. Vita continued to work with our founder on several other projects with his full-time employment as Chief Engineer. Notable achievements were the development of several other high-voltage powertrains, an aluminium-hull rigid inflatable which included one of the first stern-drive-powered electric boats. Designed from scratch in a little under 5 months, the new boat was designed to provide near-shore performance in choppy seas.
