Our Work
Mercedes-AMG
Following our founder's previous experience in designing Formula 1 engines, Hooper Quinn was approached to support the design of the electric motors in the Mercedes AMG "Project One" hypercar. The car featured a powertrain derived directly from Mercedes’s eight-time championship winning powertrain and involved a large team of the most experienced designers from Formula 1.
Being responsible for part of the ERS system including motor hardware, we championed and designed a novel motor winding concept that reduced the overall complexity and made significant improvements in the safety of the manufacturing process. The implementation of this design involved the introduction a new manufacturing technique, new assembly lines, and the training of build personnel. The concept was successful and was later adopted by Formula E and Formula 1.
