Our Work
Litus Foundation
The registered charity, Litus, is fighting climate change through the development of several patented innovations relating to improving energy efficiency. Hooper Quinn’s engagement with Litus centred around the development of an uncooled engine concept, and building a technical team.
Our primary technical objective was to identify technical risks and develop a 1D thermodynamic model of the very-high thermal efficiency concept. Using a first-principles approach and building a Matlab-based mathematical model, we calculated core operating parameters including major component temperatures and combustion chamber pressures. This low-cost theoretical simulation enabled the team to realise the core concept in more detail and highlighted where to focus engineering resources in order to resolve the most pressing design challenges. In building the technical team, we interviewed engineering candidates, supported recruitment decisions, designed team technical and individual development objectives and trained junior engineers in CAD software. We also started relationships with the UK government and supported business pitches to potential investors.
