INNOVATION ZERO: Hooper Quinn attends the International Clean Tech Congress 2023

Greg-Saskia-InnovationZero

Greg and Saskia take Hooper Quinn to this year’s International Clean Tech Congress, #InnovationZero, an event underscored by a powerful sense of urgency, action, and optimism.

Positioned between the policy-focused COP events, key representatives from the energy, transport, industrials, finance, and built environment sectors came together in London this week to rally around one of the most pressing issues of our time at the first ever InnovationZero conference.

Across a comprehensive two-day programme, speakers from a spectrum of industries spoke to the power of innovation in meeting key environmental targets, and to how progress in each link of the innovation chain has long since reached the point of necessity.

While it is widely felt that policy and technology innovation in the fight against climate change has become a shared existential duty, what was striking about the event was not only the abundance of pragmatic and initiative ideas that were showcased, but also just how effectively those ideas were communicated across traditional industry lines. A systematic paucity of inter-sector communication has long been recognised as the progress-stalling issue it is, particularly for cross-market movements of this scale. But at InnovationZero, industry executives, entrapeneurs, policy makers, and academics established a flowing dialogue. Though significantly more work needs to be done to open lines of communication between industry networks and systems of governance and economics, the 2023 congress bore witness to the fact that there has been marked improvement in this area, and collaborative engagement was rightly lifted up as the theoretical keystone to the event’s wider message.

Also highlighted was the extent to which companies like Hooper Quinn have a modest but vital part to play in this space. Greg and Saskia spoke with a wide array of dedicated individuals from a range of commercial backgrounds, and gained further insight into the growing need for the transformative power that engineering can wield, as well as Hooper Quinn’s unique position to accelerate the movement towards effective change by providing targeted support.

By constantly striving to bring engineering excellence to the heart of innovation, we continue to dedicate ourselves to facilitating advancements in this sector, and look forward to opportunities to devote our expertise to even more projects of this kind.
