Space-Comm Expo 2024: Hooper Quinn attends UK’s largest space industry event

Hooper Quinn heads to Farnborough International Exhibition Centre for the Space-Comm Expo 2024.

This year’s Expo, the largest of it’s kind in the UK, brought together some of the leading organisations from the space, satellite, aerospace, and defence industries to offer a comprehensive look into the bold future of space technology.

The event is a showcase for the state of the art of space exploration technologies as well as for the products, services, solutions, and manufacturing supply chains that drive the commercial enterprises, Government, and defence organisations behind the sector’s continual improvement and occasional giant leaps forwards. Among these topics of interest, the Expo gave visionary insights into the future of space exploration itself, including upcoming lunar and Mars missions and the soon-to-be-burgeoning industry of commercial space travel.

The scope of potential for AI applications, and recent work in advanced satellite communications poised to enhance connectivity back here on Earth, were also highlights of the two-day affair. And there was a notable and welcome appreciation felt by all in attendance for the importance of cross-functional partnerships in overcoming the challenges that space exploration and wider developments pose. Most promising, however, was the urgent focus placed on the sustainability of space activities, which was witnessed in particular by the evident gains made in the field of sustainable propulsion systems, which have expanded the horizons for what might be achievable in the pursuit of responsible exploration.

We look forward to growing the relationships we formed at the Expo, and to returning in 2025.
